The reception of the delegation from Germany

On October 4, the Center for Economic Research held a meeting with the representatives of the German delegation. The German delegation was led by Ms. Yildiz Götze, Head of Division, Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, accompanied by Dr. Ricardo Giucci, managing director at Berlin Economics and Mr. Robert Kirchner, Authorized Signatory of Berlin Economics

Funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy in Germany, the Berlin Economics is conducting a continuous economic policy dialogue in Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. The German government is considering the possibility of expanding its activities in Uzbekistan. For this reason, a delegation from Germany is visiting Tashkent from October 1 to October 5, including as meeting at the Center for Economic Research.

During the meeting, issues related to reforms in Uzbekistan were thoroughly discussed. The parties exchanged views on the reform program and its analytical support, the most effective ways of rendering assistance to the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Particular attention was paid to the issues of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, and providing recommendations to the government on this matter.

For reference, Berlin Economics, based on requests and priorities of the host country, forms expert groups that analyze relevant sectors of the economy, framework conditions and applied practices, on the basis of which practical recommendations are developed to improve the effectiveness of existing or create new development models of the studied sectors. Followed by the interest of the host country, Berlin Economics is not just limited to the development of recommendations, but also provides expert assistance in the implementation of the agreed measures.

As a rule, when implementing such consulting projects, Berlin Economics involves both local experts and, if necessary, also experts from the IMF, EBRD and other authoritative financial and economic structures with which long-standing partnerships have been established.
